splr:

So I looked up this flower cause when I first saw it the other day I was like uuugh. It’s called a Rafflesia flower, it’s the official state flower of Indonesia and is native to Southeast Asia. It can grow up to 3 feet wide and weigh 24lbs. It’s a parasite [of course it would be- though it’d be all types of bad-ass if it were carnivorous cause apparently it smells like rotting flesh!!! and has the nickname “Corpse Flower”] It also has no stem or leaves, so the flower just grows by itself. Weird huh!?
Not too much is known about it’s reproductive patterns, and it’s also almost extinct, which is too bad. It makes you wonder what craziness our planet might have looked like before humans.
